The Secret to Looking Young and Youthful with Age

What’s up, my wonderful, amazing, sweet, and lovely people! 💖 Welcome back to Maryam’s Joyful Life blog, where we celebrate faith, family, and the beauty of living a joyful life.

Today, I want to share something very close to my heart. My Limitless Church sister, Victoria, is one of the most youthful, radiant, and gorgeous women I know—and she’s proof that age is just a number. I asked her what her secret was, and her response was so beautiful that I knew I had to share it with you.

Here are Victoria’s secrets to staying young, vibrant, and full of life:

1. She Minds Her Own Business

Victoria doesn’t waste her energy comparing herself to others or getting caught up in unnecessary drama. She stays focused on what matters, and that keeps her peaceful—and peace is the best beauty secret!

2. She Exercises

Movement keeps the body strong and the mind sharp. Whether it’s walking, stretching, or working out, exercise keeps her feeling energized and confident.

3. She Drinks Water Every Day

Hydration is key! Drinking water not only helps with glowing skin but also keeps the body refreshed and functioning at its best.

4. She Avoids Stress and Doesn’t Take Things Personally

This one is powerful. Victoria recognizes that people’s actions are often a reflection of their own struggles—not about her. She doesn’t take on their problems or let negativity weigh her down.

5. She Goes After Her Own Goals

Victoria is intentional about pursuing goals for herself—not just for others. Having dreams and ambitions of her own fuels her happiness and gives her life purpose.

6. She Trusts That God Takes Good Care of Her

Her faith in God is her anchor. She knows that God provides, sustains, and covers her, and that deep trust allows her to live joyfully and gracefully.

But what touched me the most was her encouragement to mothers.

Victoria shared that she spent so much of her life raising her children that she didn’t build an identity outside of being a mom. When her kids grew up and left, she was suddenly left asking herself: Who am I, outside of motherhood?

That journey of rediscovering herself, deepening her relationship with God, and taking care of her own beauty (yes, she even does her own hair and nails!) gave her a new sense of confidence and joy.

She told me:

👉 “I want every woman with children to pursue her own personal goals. Don’t let being a mom be the only thing that defines you.”

My Encouragement for You

If you’re reading this today and thinking it’s too late to claim your life back, let me tell you something: it’s not too late. 🌟

You can decide today who you want to be and start working towards it. You can create something new, build a life you love, and discover the version of yourself that you may have buried under responsibilities and expectations.

You are more capable than you think. Don’t let anyone steal your joy. 💕

Stay youthful, stay joyful, and keep shining!

How to Stop Comparing Yourself

What’s up, my wonderful, amazing, sweet, and lovely people! 💕

Welcome back to Maryam’s Joyful Life Blog.

Today I want to talk about something that sneaks into our hearts and minds far too often: comparison. Comparing yourself to others is the dumbest idea ever—because the truth is, the people you compare yourself to can’t even compete with themselves. We are dynamic human beings, always changing, always growing, and doing the best we can in any given moment. Your “best” won’t always look the same—and that’s perfectly okay.

Comparison Steals Joy

I believe one of the fastest roads to depression is constantly comparing yourself to others. There will always be people whose expectations you’ll never be able to live up to—and that’s a big enough reason to stop trying.

Here’s the truth:

  • You can learn from others without trying to be a copycat.
  • When you try to live life exactly like someone else, it’s a form of stealing. And we all know stealing is wrong.
  • You were created to be authentically you.

If you’re surrounded by people who want you to be exactly like them, pause and ask yourself: How is that going for me? Probably not too well, because deep down, there’s something in each of us that refuses to be tamed.

Be Authentically You

You are unique. Your uniqueness blossoms only when you allow yourself to be the person God created you to be. That doesn’t happen by mimicking someone else—it happens when you embrace yourself fully.

Yes, you can learn from others. Yes, you can be inspired by their journey. But don’t steal their life—and don’t let them steal yours.

One Day at a Time

Be free from people one day at a time by choosing you. Be the most authentic version of yourself. It might be hard at first, but you are more than capable. We all are. Great goals, peace, and true joy come from embracing your authenticity—not from being a shadow of someone else.

Learn from the mistakes of others, make better decisions, and keep striving to be better than you were yesterday, not better than someone else.

Don’t let anyone steal your joy! ✨

When Trying Something New Goes Spicy 🌶️🔥

What’s up wonderful, amazing, sweet, and lovely people!

Today, I have a hilarious (and slightly mouth-burning) story to share with you. You know how I’m always telling you not to let fear of the unknown keep you from experiencing something new? Well… let’s just say my sweetman and I really lived that lesson today.

We were at Nam Dae Mun and spotted some Asian noodles we hadn’t tried before. My sweetman, being the adventurous foodie he is, decided he wanted to try the hottest flavor they had. He was so confident—he didn’t even flinch when he picked the spiciest option on the shelf.

When we got home, he looked at me with a mischievous smile and said, “Babe, you try it first.”

And me, being me, I said, “Sure!” without hesitation.

Friends… the first kick of spice hit me like a playful punch to the mouth. 🥵 I instantly reached for my water. That should have been my warning sign right there.

Then it was his turn. He took a big forkful, chewed slowly… and then sprinted downstairs to get a glass of milk. 😂 He came back shaking his head, saying, “This should be illegal. You should have to sign a waiver before eating it.”

Of course, he handed me the rest of the bowl because he couldn’t handle another bite. And of course, I ate it—because despite the burn, it was so flavorful! But yes, I did make him bring me some milk, too.

It’s crazy how something can be so delicious and so dangerously spicy at the same time.

So here’s the takeaway: Don’t let the fear of something new scare you away from an amazing experience—even if it comes with a little heat. You never know, you might find a new favorite… or at least a good story to laugh about later.

💬 Would you try a dish like this?
